Samsung PN50C6500 Review - Is This TV Worth the Money?

The Samsung PN50C6500 plasma tv is the latest addition to the companies C6500 series. Originally introduced to offer high quality home theater features in a lower price range, the PN50 is setting new standards for performance. Looking at this sleek 50 inch model while its turned off you would think that this TV is in the high end of the pricing scale rather than a budget series.

As good as this TV looks, the real magic happens when you turn it on. Plasma TVs are noted for their vivid high contrast images and the 50C65 does not disappoint. Samsung's Mega Dynamic Contrast delivers an outstanding 2000000:1 contrast ratio for vivid colors and true blacks. To enhance the contrast ratio even further, Samsung has added their FilterBright Antiglare screen to minimize reflections in ambient lit rooms.

Other features that contribute to the PN50C6500's high quality picture is Samsung's new 1080p E3-Panel combined with Clear Image Panel technology. Home theater owners that enjoy action movies and sports will appreciate the 600Hz subfield motion for less blurring. One thing we did notice is that the power supply makes a slight buzz when it's being pushed to its brightness limits; the buzz is barely noticeable otherwise.

Samsung didn't forget to add some inputs to the back of this super performer when they added 4 HDMI jacks. This is enough to add your BluRay player, satellite dish, your Tivo and your PC without the use of daisy linking. Cameras and camcorders can be easily plugged into the 2 USB ports. And you can create your own digital network with any DLNA certified devices with the built in wireless DLNA port.

All in all, this is a television with a picture that is considerably better than most of its competitors and features that rival models that cost significantly more money. We think that the Samsung PN50C6500 is a plasma tv that should be considered by any one looking in this size bracket.
